Beloved, today the Church celebrates Good Shepherd Sunday, a powerful reminder that Jesus Himself is our Shepherd, Protector, and Guide.
In the First Reading, Peter boldly proclaims that Jesus, whom the people crucified, is both Lord and Christ. Many are moved to repentance and are baptized, showing the transforming power of encountering the risen Lord.
The Psalm gives us one of the most comforting images in Scripture: “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.” It reminds us that God provides, guides, restores, and protects His people even in the darkest valleys.
In the Second Reading, we are reminded that Christ suffered for us, leaving us an example to follow. Though He endured pain, He entrusted Himself completely to God, and through His wounds, we are healed.
In the Gospel, Jesus reveals Himself as the Good Shepherd and the Gate of the sheepfold. He contrasts Himself with thieves and strangers who bring harm, but He comes to give life and life in abundance.
Beloved, this message is deeply personal.
In today’s world, many voices compete for your attention, voices of confusion, fear, temptation, and doubt. But only one voice leads to true life: the voice of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
He knows you by name. He leads you with love. He protects your soul. And He calls you into abundant life.
To follow the Good Shepherd means:
Trusting His guidance even when the path is unclear
Listening to His Word above all other voices
Walking in obedience and peace
You are not lost. You are being led.
