Beloved, today's Word reminds us that God alone must remain the source of our confidence. The First Reading speaks about the prince of Tyre whose heart became proud because of his wisdom, wealth, and achievements. He began to think of himself as God. This is a warning against the danger of allowing success to make us forget the One who gave us the ability to succeed. Blessings become dangerous when they become substitutes for God.
In the Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples how difficult it can be for those who are attached to riches to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The disciples are astonished and ask, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus gives the answer that should strengthen every believer: what is impossible for human beings is possible with God. Your salvation, healing, restoration, breakthrough, and transformation may be beyond your human ability—but they are never beyond God's power.
Sometimes we look at our situation and say, “There is no way.” God looks at the same situation and says, “Trust Me.” Peter then reminds Jesus that the disciples have left everything to follow Him. Jesus assures them that nobody who sacrifices for the Kingdom will ultimately lose. Whatever you surrender for Christ is never wasted.
When we put our trust in God:
Pride gives way to humility.
Fear gives way to faith.
Impossible situations become opportunities for God's power.
We learn to value eternal treasures above earthly possessions.
Our sacrifices for God produce eternal rewards.
Beloved, do not measure God's ability by your present circumstances. Your resources may be limited, but God's power is limitless. Do not allow money, position, success, failure, or disappointment to become your god. Put everything in the hands of the One who can do what human strength cannot accomplish.
With God, your impossible situation can become a testimony.
