In today's first reading, God reminds His people to treat strangers, widows, orphans, and the poor with compassion. The Lord hears the cries of the vulnerable and expects His people to act with justice and mercy.
Beloved, your relationship with God must be reflected in how you treat others. You cannot claim to love God while deliberately neglecting the suffering of your neighbour. Sometimes, the answer to someone's prayer may be the kindness, encouragement, generosity, or support God inspires you to offer.
In the second reading, St. Paul commends the Thessalonians for receiving the Word of God and becoming examples of faith to others. Their lives demonstrated that genuine faith produces visible transformation.
In today's Gospel, Jesus identifies the greatest commandment: to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbour as ourselves.
These two commandments cannot be separated. Our love for God must inspire our love for people. Prayer, worship, and devotion are essential, but they must also produce kindness, forgiveness, honesty, compassion, and selfless service.
Beloved, the true evidence of your love for God is not only what you say in His presence, but also how you live in the presence of others.
