Word for Today

Beloved, today's Gospel presents us with a young man who sincerely desired eternal life. He had obeyed the commandments and lived a morally good life, yet Jesus revealed that something was still standing between him and complete surrender. Jesus told him to let go of his possessions, give to the poor, and follow Him. The young man went away sad because he had many possessions. His problem was not simply that he owned wealth; the deeper issue was that his possessions had begun to possess his heart.
God does not necessarily ask everyone to give away everything they own. But He asks every one of us to examine our hearts: What occupies the place that belongs to God? It may be money, position, comfort, relationships, success, fear, ambition, or even something from our past. In the First Reading, Ezekiel becomes a sign to Israel. The people had become attached to the things they treasured while forgetting God. Their experience reminds us that nothing in this world should become more important than our relationship with the Lord.
Jesus is calling you today to a deeper level of freedom. Following Christ means allowing Him to become greater than everything else. Sometimes the greatest breakthrough is not receiving more—it is being freed from what has been controlling our hearts.
When we put God first:
We become free from unhealthy attachments.
We discover the true value of eternal treasures.
Our hearts become available for God's purpose.
We learn to trust God rather than material possessions.
We gain the freedom to follow Christ wholeheartedly.

Beloved, ask yourself honestly today: “What am I unwilling to surrender to God?” Whatever it is, place it in His hands. You may lose something earthly, but you will never lose when you choose Christ. Jesus is the treasure that cannot perish.

Prophetic Declaration

Today, I receive grace to put God first in every area of my life. Every unhealthy attachment controlling my heart is broken. I shall not allow money, possessions, people, position, or fear to separate me from God. The Lord shall give me grace to surrender everything that is not according to His will. I receive freedom from every form of spiritual bondage. My heart shall desire the things of Heaven above the things of this world. I shall follow Jesus faithfully and inherit the eternal treasure He has prepared for me.
Amen.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Help me to love You above everything else. Search my heart and reveal anything that has taken Your rightful place in my life. Give me the courage to surrender every unhealthy attachment, fear, ambition, and desire that prevents me from following You completely.Lord Jesus, teach me to treasure what is eternal rather than what is temporary. Give me a generous heart that cares for the poor, the needy, and the vulnerable. May my possessions never possess me, and may my heart always belong completely to You.Lead me on the path of holiness and eternal life.Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Meditation

What is the one thing I find most difficult to surrender to God, and am I ready to place it completely in His hands today?
