Herod heard about Jesus and became curious about Him. He wanted to know who Jesus was, but curiosity alone was not enough. Knowing about Jesus is different from truly knowing Him. The Gospel challenges us to move beyond merely hearing about Christ. We are called to encounter Him through prayer, His Word, and a life of discipleship. Jesus must not simply be a name we hear; He must become the centre of our lives.
Ecclesiastes reminds us that many things we pursue in this world are temporary. Achievements, possessions and human recognition cannot satisfy the deepest desires of the heart. Only God gives our lives lasting meaning. Psalm 90 therefore gives us a beautiful prayer: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain wisdom of heart.” Every day is a gift. Let us use today wisely by drawing closer to God and investing our lives in things that have eternal value.
When we truly know Jesus:
We discover the purpose behind our lives.
We stop allowing temporary things to control our hearts.
We learn to value prayer and God's Word.
We become willing to follow Christ faithfully.
We begin to live with eternity in view.
Do not only ask, “Who is Jesus?” Let your life become an answer to that question. Seek Him, know Him, love Him and follow Him.
