Today's Gospel reminds us that being close to Jesus is not merely about hearing His Word; it is about living according to it. Jesus describes His true family as those who hear God's Word and put it into practice.
It is possible to listen to sermons, read the Bible and pray regularly, yet struggle to allow God's Word to change our daily choices. True discipleship begins when God's Word moves from our ears into our hearts, decisions and actions.
The First Reading reminds us that God examines the heart. He values righteousness, justice, humility and compassion. What we do when nobody is watching reveals much about the condition of our hearts.
Today, ask God for the grace to become a doer of His Word. Let your faith be seen in how you speak, forgive, serve, work and treat others—especially those who are vulnerable or in need.
When we live God's Word:
Our faith becomes visible through our actions.
Our hearts become more pleasing to God.
We grow in wisdom and discernment.
We become instruments of justice and compassion.
We become more deeply united with Christ.
Beloved, don't only hear the Word—practice it. Let your life become a living testimony of what God is teaching you.
