Beloved, today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, rejoicing in God's victory in the life of the woman who completely surrendered herself to His will. Mary's Assumption points us toward the destiny God prepares for those who trust Him and remain faithful.
In the Gospel, Mary visits Elizabeth after receiving God's extraordinary call. She does not remain focused on herself. Instead, she goes in haste to serve another. When Elizabeth recognizes the greatness of what God is doing, Mary responds with the beautiful song of praise we know as the Magnificat. Mary teaches us that when God chooses us for something beyond our understanding, our response should be faith, humility, and praise. She did not have every answer, but she trusted the One who called her.
Her words, “The Almighty has done great things for me,” remind us that God can accomplish extraordinary things through ordinary people who surrender themselves completely to Him. The Second Reading gives us another powerful hope: Christ has been raised from the dead. His Resurrection is the foundation of our hope for eternal life. Mary's Assumption points forward to this victory—the victory of Christ over sin and death.
Whatever battle you are facing today, do not allow fear to have the final word. The God who raised Jesus from the dead is still working. The God who lifted Mary into glory is able to lift you from your place of discouragement, weakness, disappointment, and fear.
When we surrender completely to God:
He turns impossibilities into testimonies.
He gives us strength to carry His purpose.
He transforms our ordinary lives into instruments of grace.
He gives us hope beyond our present circumstances.
He leads us toward the victory He has prepared for us.
Beloved, let Mary's faith inspire you today. Say yes to God even when you do not understand everything. Trust Him even when the journey is difficult. Praise Him even before you see the answer.
The God who did great things for Mary can still do great things in your life.
